Note: Many of the following Wine Notes FAQs have the following recommended action: Sync the app. By syncing the app you are assured that all your wine reviews and data are saved to our server.
Q: I have lost my password. How can I reset it?
A: Go to: More -> Wine Notes Account -> Reset my password. Type in your e-mail and your new password will be e-mailed to you. Resetting the password only works when signed out of your account. Note! Before signing out be sure to sync the app.
Q: How can I change my password?
A: When signed into your Wine Notes account Go to: More -> Wine Notes Account -> Change Password. Type your current password, then type your new password twice and click the Change button. Changing a password works only when signed into your Wine Notes account.
Q: Is it safe to sign out and not lose any data?
A: Yes, but before you do sign out of Wine Notes make sure to sync the app first.
Q: When signing in again the app asks me: "Would you like to add the data from this iPhone or overwrite it with the data from the server?" What should I do?
A: If you have not created an account and never synced your iPhone then choose "Add Device Data" and your iPhone will be synced to the server. However, if you have an account and already performed a sync your data is already on the server so choose "Use server data" option.
Q: How can I create an account?
A: Go to: More -> Wine Notes Account. Fill in your e-mail address and password twice. Important: after the registration you will receive an email with a link to activate your account. After clicking the link you are registered.
Q: What are the advantages of being registered in the app?
A: Your iPhone will be synced to the server and recovered in case of using a new iPhone.
Q: How can I make sure not to lose any data?
A: Your data is protected through the synchronization function. To enable the synchronization you must register within the app. While logged-in, all data will transfer to the server. The synchronization helps you to recover all Wine Notes data when using a new iPhone.
Q: How does syncing work?
A: Go to: Sync. Tap the "Refresh" icon. The Wine Notes app will automatically sync (transfer) all your wine reviews and data. Important: When syncing you must stay logged into the app. For faster process you need to have the app open (not in the background) and you need to prevent your phone from going to sleep.
Q: How can I confirm that my sync was successful?
A: Go to: Sync -> Progress Bar; you will see the % of the server's data. If it is 100%, then all the data from the app is synced to the server.
Q: I am planning to buy a new iPhone. What will happen with my data?
A: Before changing your iPhone make sure that you are registered and synced within Wine Notes app.
Q: Which devices are compatible with the application?
A: For now, Wine Notes is only available on iPhone.
Q: My account name is my old email address. Can I change my account name to my new email address?
A: Yes. It can be changed with the help of our technical support. Please send us an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: Is it safe to sign out from the application and not to lose any data?
A: Yes, you can sign out from the Wine Notes app if you are registered and sync the app before you sign out. Your data will be safe.
Q: Is it possible to download data into a spreadsheet or export it?
A: Yes. As of now, Wine Notes supports only individual wine exporting via "Email This Wine" option. When you send your wine note to an e-mail recipient a spreadsheet file (.csv) is attached. This file can be opened with most common spreadsheet software programs including Excel, Apple Numbers, Apache OpenOffice.
